This is a great opportunity to view our facilities, aircraft and talk to our Flight Instructors. We can show you how to become either a Professional Pilot or a Recreational Pilot. The Ottawa Flying Club has been training pilots since 1928!

CYOW CEO Paul Benoit to Retire

Ottawa International Airport president and chief executive officer Paul Benoit announced in a 15 March 2012 statement that he will retire in February 2013, some ten months away.

Benoit has served in his present position since the mid 1990s. During his incumbency he oversaw renovations to the airport, including the design and construction of the new main terminal building, as well as the tearing down of many older hangars and other structures. During his term more than $500 million has been spent on the airport's infrastructure.

In a statement Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson said, "Paul has been a tremendous catalyst for change at Ottawa airport."

Benoit has indicated that he intends to first take some rest before deciding on future plans.

Ottawa International Runway 04/22 Repaving

Ottawa International's general aviation runway 04/22 will finally be repaved this summer, starting on Monday 22 August 2011.

The work includes repairing the existing runway surface and some taxiways, plus creating a new taxiway from the button of runway 04 to the Ottawa Flying Club. Designated taxiway "S", the new route will enable aircraft to use the full length off 04 on take-off without requiring a backtrack.

As part of the job most of taxiway "P" and the other unused asphalt left over from the World War II runways in the north in-field will be removed. The part of taxiway "P" that joins "S" to 04/22 will be repaved.

The repaving work by Tomlinson is expected to take 2-3 weeks and thus should be done by mid-September.
